The oldest two of our clan are off in Georgia camping with the Boy Scouts this week, so this morning I took the youngest two over to Mote Marine Laboratory in Sarasota. After lunch both boys started their aquatic playing (both real and pretend!) adventures. While they were creating a pretend shark tank out of a shoebox I decided to take out my twill tape, paint and brushes and practice with some tag making.
I have this vision in my head for a small folded seam tag for my bags. It will just have a raspberry and ideally, I’d like it to be on twill or linen/cotton ribbon. I would love it embroidered but that avenue probably isn’t going to happen so I decided to try stamping.
I ordered my rubber stamp from here: http://www.rubberstamps.net/ . All I had to do was upload my raspberry file and pick the size. Their customer service was fabulous and super-duper fast. Very impressive.
My experiment consisted of the following:
* Marvy Uchida Fabric Marker
* Tulip Matte Soft Fabric Paint
* Martha Stewart Crafts Muli-Surface Pearl Acrylic Craft Paint
* Scribbles Shiny
* Liquitex Basics Acrylic Color
* 1/2yd of 1/2″ twill tape in cream
I pre-washed the twill tape before I got started. Then one-by-one I stamped a sample of each brand on the twill. I plan on letting it sit for a few days to set then go from there. Obviously, my goal is to have them withstand washing but I may try and iron them as well at some point. I’m still researching that area. I will post my results in a few days after I have tortured the twill and paint a bit more. Happy Father’s Day to all the wonderful dad’s out there!
