DIY Tree Skirt Inspiration

Happy Sunday everyone! We spent most of the day yesterday switching between my oldest son’s science experiment and decorating the house. Every time we move (7 times in 16 years!) it takes a good deal of time to figure out how to decorate the house for the holidays. So it took quite a bit of time yesterday to figure out what we could put up and what we had to store away or alter. So far, I’m about 80% done with the decorating, so today I’m looking for new tree skirts and ways to decorate my staircase.

The tree skirt I usually use is made for a 7-8ft tree. This year I put it upstairs for my “kids” tree. That leaves my big *fake-boo-hoo* tree downstairs needing a skirt. I’d really like to try and make my own this time around, so I’m surfing online for some ideas. Here’s what I’ve found so far that I’m tempted to try:

It appears I’m wanting a ruffled look this year! My eye keeps going back to images where there is ruffles.  Which one do you like the most? I have a ton of cream lace from the Craigslist bounty I got a few months back and I have a bit of burlap, so I may play around with it this week and see what I come up with.  Have you ever made a tree skirt?  I’d love to hear your tips and ideas.  Cindy
