Introducing: The Peas and Corn Lunch Bags!

Earlier today, I gave you a sneak peak of the fabric I was using for a pattern I was testing for Sara over at Sew Sweetness. Well, I just got her e-mail about the release so now I can share more pictures of all the cuteness!!

The Peas and Corn Lunch Bags pattern is Sara’s newest pattern release. I have been testing patterns for Sara since the beginning of the year, so I can honestly say you can’t go wrong with one of her patterns! Her newest release is a huge one because you get patterns for zipped snack bags, a rounded lunch bag AND a rectangular one. This time around, I tested the rounded lunch bag.

For my lunch bag, I used Moda’s “Apple Jack” fabric on the exterior. The interior print is a mystery, but matched perfectly.  In the pattern, it is written for insulated interlining and vinyl for that wipe-away need we all have for our lunch bags.  I won’t be using mine for food, so I used fleece and Soft and Stable to give it body.

Here is a side look so you can see how the zipper goes from one side to the other. I used a 22″ zipper, so you can fully open the bag and put in a water bottle, chips and a sandwich container with no problem.  What’s great about this pattern is that it doesn’t use a ton of fabric and there are not tons of little pieces to worry about. I do suggest a walking foot and a few sharp needles because the layers can get a bit thick. I was able to complete this in about 2 hours.

photo 5Here is a shot of the interior so you can see how the edges were finished. Bias tape binding is sewn over the seams to complete the bag. There is also a nice handle sewn onto the top so your kids can carry it to and from the lunchroom.  If you head over to Sew Sweetness today, Sara has her official pattern launch with examples from all her testers. You can get a ton more views and materials we used to make our lunch bags.

Thanks again Sara for the opportunity and if you would like to purchase this pattern, head over HERE.  ~Cindy~

  1. Cindy it looks great, I like the fabric too. Are you making any for the boys for school?

    • I’d love to if they let me. They’re ‘too cool’ and want themed boxes. Oldest is in MS so he just likes the one that matches his backpack! MEH!
