Last summer I had this itch to sew a “summery” outfit for myself. Something comfortable and easy to sew a plus. When I ran across this pattern at the local craft store, I knew this was the one to try. It had a cute top with several variations and leggings that looked simple.
Yesterday I pulled it out again an think I’m ready to give it a go. I never sew for myself, so I’m a bit nervous to begin. Mostly because I am 5’10” and I will have to alter the pattern both in the leg and the torso. I guess it’s time to get the measuring tape, paper and husband ready to measure, right?
I am going to make “Top B” and “Pants E”. It’s the cover picture. The top I will need 60″ – 1 3/8″ fabric and 1 3/8″ for the leggings. That’s easy enough – check. I will need twill tape and elastic for the waist and bottom of leggings – have that – check.
Now I need your help. It says I will need 3/4 yd. of lightweight fusible. I think in purse interlinings, so what type of interfacing would you use for this? The suggested fabrics are: Jersey’s, Matte Jersey’s, Two Way Stretch, Novelty Knit. I have sewn with knit a total of once and it was for a wrap.
For those of you clothing guru’s out there (tall or not!) What fabric would you suggest I use for this? Interfacing?
Any help or tips for sewing with knits or for tall ladies would be greatly appreciated 🙂 Cindy
