I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to look outside and see bright, clear skies. Today is a beauty, but at only 20 degrees that means my pretty bags and quilt tops need to stay indoors. So instead of nice outdoor shots today, I brought some current WIP and a few finished ones upstairs this morning and took over my family room.
Last week’s WIP was of this quilt. The Sugar Block Club 2014 quilt. I finally found sashing, binding and a backing over the weekend and was able to finish the quilt top Monday. The sashing I found at Joann’s. It’s called Parisian Typeface and the white with subtle faded black printing on it really pulled the top together. Several of you suggested a black/white type of print and you were right. I am really liking it!
This quilt top also has two consistent colors, Essex Yarn Dyed in Flax (you can purchase it HERE) and Kona Snow. The rest of the blocks I used from my larger scraps and just went with the flow. The binding and backing I’m going to wait and show you when it gets closer to being done…….it’s funky stuff!
Remember this quilt top? Still done. Still sitting in my studio. Slacker. I think the reason I haven’t set it out to a quilter is that I have no idea how it should be quilted? What kind of design would look good on a busy quilt like this?
Any ideas?? Ideally, I’d like to send both these tops out at the same time so I need to get in gear.
My last quilty WIP is working on my 8.5″ scrappy log cabins. ( Loving my bright winter socks!!) As of today, I have 12 done and should have enough to make a few more. From there I may put it away until my scrap bin overflows again, it’s just too small to do much with right now.
So ladies, how would you quilt my 2 tops?
I’m linking up my post today with Freshly Pieced WIP Wednesday.
