I’m a little late joining in on the Selfish Sewing Week bandwagon, but I am finally done with my Jam Jar Pincushion I created from Sweetly Stitched Handmades by Amy Sinibaldi (aka Nana Company). This book is all kinds of cuteness and the projects are so her. If you need inspiration in hand-stitching, unique gifts, and classic sewing read her blog!
The pincushion was fairly easy to make. I have never hand-stitched letters or labels so that was fun, even if mine look a bit wonky!! After the stitching, sewing the actual jar was breeze. Attaching the lid was the most difficult for me because you had to push the *lid* edges into the jar then stitch it closed. Keeping it neat and smooth while finishing took me some time. I do think it looks pretty good for my first one!
I think using a nice linen is important here just because it is very forgiving when you are stuffing it and stitching the lace. My fabric was a 100% pure linen.
