WIP Wednesday – Sew-Along Edition

My WIP’s this week are fun ones with no looming due dates.  I am finding (once again) that I am more productive when I have 2 or 3 projects going on in my studio at once.  I’ll tackle one in the morning after the boys are off to school, then by noontime I’ll switch to another.   Afternoons can be busy with activities so I’ll grab something more portable to do while they are snacking and doing homework.

If you haven’t heard, Betz White is having a sew-along for her Field Study Tote Pattern.  It runs from May 18th – June 8th.  Her first post goes over the pattern and then posts introduce supplies and the timeline she’s using to work on the tote. Click HERE for some more info.

For my Field Study Tote I am using a nice buttery Ikat fabric by Waverly and RK’s new Essex Yarn Dyed Linen in Taupe. Perfect match!  I have yardage of the new Taupe along with many other colors in my shop HERE.  I have all my fabric, interfacings and hardware cut out and ready. I hope I can catch up to everyone by tomorrow afternoon.

I am STILL plugging away at my May 1718 Coverlet QAL blocks.  There were a lot of applique blocks this month which means it will take me twice as long.  I am slowly getting the blocks done, but I’m pretty sure applique is something that I won’t put on my to-do list in the future. With the help of our Facebook group I tried the needle-turn technique, the adhesive version and the freezer paper method.  The freezer paper method with a tad of glue basting has been a lifesaver. I stocked up on both glue and freezer paper so I survive the rest of the applique blocks.

Here’s my first ever hand appliqued block! Woot-Woot!!

IMG_2195My last WIP of the week is on the home stretch.  It’s the ByAnnie’s Hold Everything pattern.  While I use tons of Annie’s Soft & Stable this is the first pattern I have made of hers and won’t be the last.  I purchased her Craftsy class when it first came out so I have a feeling I’ll tackle that one next.

So what are your WIP’s this week?  I am really liking the pace I’ve been working at recently.  The pace will change next month when the boys are out of school though!!  We’ll see how crazy everything gets once the boys are on summer vacation!!
