~ Making Something New in September ~ Stash & Dash

This week I finally got around to making the popular Stash-and-Dash-Bag, a free pattern from byAnnie.com!  The pattern was released this summer along with a great (and detailed!) sew-along on her blog.  Time was not on my side this summer so I just downloaded the pattern and set it aside until the boys headed back to school.

The Stash and Dash Bag is a fun sew.  It does take a bit of time, but with the sew-along posts up on Annie’s blog, I was able to get really detailed pictures and tips to help me as I went.  The fabric I used for my exterior were prints from Riley Blake, Moda and the pink interior was from JoAnn’s.  I also chose to quilt my bag by following along with the edges of the hexagons in the pattern.  Love how it turned out.

I plan on storing my Sashiko supplies and a few of my Kumi Loom floss and beads in my SADB.  It fits everything perfectly (except the loom!) and will be easy to “dash” with when I’m ready!

Almost forgot!  There is also a clear vinyl pocket sewn onto the main side of the fabric so when it’s rolled up fully you can see it on the back like this. Nice spot for my Sashiko sampler!

I can see myself making a ton of these!  They use such a small amount of fabric that you could really use up some of you stash and make some for gifts.  If you want to make a SADB make sure you head over to byAnnie’s soon because I believe this pattern will only be available until October 1st!
