It’s been 3 1/2 years since I first posted this epic fail post. And at the time I had a lot of fails, but it’s been fun to read old posts and see how I’ve evolved as a handbag designer/sewer. How have you evolved as a designer/sewer?
I had great hopes for this bag. Sketched it out, made a pattern, etc. But when it was all said and done, it just didn’t turn out how I wanted. I really don’t like when my ideas turn sour, but it happens. The one thing about sewing and designing is that you so very rarely get it right on the first try. Sometimes, the seam ripper becomes your BFF and you take the whole bag apart only to try and fail again. Patience grasshopper.
I have jotted down what I liked and didn’t like about this bag and will make another go at it. Mostly it’s the handles I’ve had issue with, but as I’m still learning about handbag design I know what went wrong and will try another angle next time. I love the fabric though, don’t you? If you are a designer of handbags, what frustrates you the most when creating a new pattern? How many “go’s” do you normally have to do before it turns out the way you want it?
